Seal label specification
The seal is a 2.25 × 1.25 inch monochrome thermal label: a rounded hairline frame, the pharmacy's name set small, the serial set large, a hairline rule, the typeable address, and one inverse band carrying the errand: SCAN TO VERIFY | RECALL ALERTS. No Veritura mark appears on the vial; the pharmacy's name leads, and Veritura's mark lives on the page the code opens.
Geometry#
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Size | 2.25 × 1.25 in (57 × 32 mm) |
| Printer class | Zebra-class direct thermal, 203 dpi, raw ZPL to port 9100 or a raw print queue |
| Canvas | 457 × 254 dots (^PW457, ^LL254) |
| Frame | Rounded hairline, 2 dots, inset 5 dots on every edge |
| QR | Printer-native ^BQN model 2, error correction M, anchored at x24 y42; magnification 5, reduced automatically (never below 2) so the four-module quiet zone survives any payload length |
| Payload | https://verify.veritura.co/u/<serial> |
| Text column | x194 → x457 (263 dots): pharmacy name (≤ 20 chars, 20-dot), serial (32-dot), hairline rule, typeable address, optional ORDER <ref> line |
| Band | Inverse (white on black), full width, y207–249: exactly four QR modules below the largest possible code |

Formats#
| Format | Use | Download |
|---|---|---|
zpl | Direct feed to a 203 dpi Zebra-class printer | GET /v1/seal-batches/<id>/labels?format=…(or the workspace's download buttons) |
thermal | Thermal-sized PDF (2.25 × 1.25 in per page) for PDF-driven print queues | |
avery | Avery 5160 / 8160 sheet, 3 across × 10 down, printed at 100% with no scaling |
Rules that never bend#
- The host is permanent. A printed QR cannot be recalled. The payload host is
verify.veritura.coand that host serves the record pages forever;www.veritura.co/u/…redirects there permanently, so nothing ever printed goes dark. - The quiet zone is sacred. Four modules on every side of the QR. The platform computes magnification from the actual payload length so a longer host can never collapse it; embedded templates (Mode B) must guarantee the same.
- The serial always prints in full, in the text column and at the end of the typeable address. It is the one thing a person may have to read aloud or type.
- Order references are opaque. An order line prints only when a serial was bound to a reference, and references that look like patient information are refused at mint time.
- No Veritura mark on the vial. The pharmacy's own name (the workspace's label brand) is the only brand on the label.
Printer requirements#
- 203 dpi Zebra-class direct thermal is the shipped target. On a 300 dpi unit the ZPL prints at roughly two-thirds size: request the 300 dpi variant and name the printer model before loading a roll.
- Label stock: 2.25 × 1.25 in direct-thermal stock. For very small injectable vials where a wrapped label would fold over itself, prefer Mode B (serial embedded in the main Rx label).
- White-label domains: a pharmacy-owned verify domain (for example
verify.<pharmacy>.com) is supported; the label engine recomputes QR version, magnification, and caption wrapping from the real payload so a longer domain never breaks the label. Coordinate with Veritura before printing against a custom host.
